How to choose a kids' tennis racket

Your child has decided to try tennis! How about a little help sorting through the different types of tennis racket? Check out our rackets for beginners, intermediate and advanced players, and our advice for learning how to hold your tennis racket properly.

The choice of a kid's racket will be based on 2 important points: Your child's LEVEL OF PLAY and THEIR HEIGHT! Let's take a look at these characteristics to help you choose the right racket for your child.

Your child's level

Based on your child's performance, the higher their level, the more they'll need a technical racket.

    Beginner level

Your child is just starting out and their level of play may remain unchanged for some time.

Your child is discovering tennis and playing their first rallies, so a durable, forgiving racket will be ideal.

    They'll need an aluminium racket.

  • Artengo kids advanced

    Intermediate level

Your child has been playing tennis for 2 or 3 years and plays more than once a week.

They're looking to make progress and will need a racket to improve. They'll need comfort and manoeuvrability.

To improve their game, we recommend a graphite + aluminium or 100% graphite racket.

  • YOUR CHILD'S SKILL LEVEL

    Advanced level

Your child plays competitively and has a well-defined style of play.

They'll be looking for a racket that's adapted to their style: power, spin and control for a good feel when hitting the ball.

    They'll need a 100% graphite racket.

Your child's height

The next factor in choosing a racket is your child's height. A child's height determines their strength, so you'll need to choose a racket that's the right size for the best performance.

Note: A racket that is too big hinders the player's technical development and is bad for the muscles and joints.   On the other hand, a racket that is too small reduces your playing ability.

- Height < 100 cm /  Age 3: 17 inch rackets
- Height 100 to 107 cm /  Age 4: 19 inch rackets
- Height 108 to 115 cm /  Age 5 to 6: 21 inch rackets
- Height 116 to 125 cm / Age 6 to 8: 23 inch rackets
- Height 126 to 140 cm / Age 8 to 10: 25 inch rackets
- Height 141 to 155 cm / Age 10 to 12: 26 inch rackets

To choose the right size:

1- Ask your coach for a recommendation (this is the best option).
2- Use the size chart in-store to match your child's height.
