Personal details

Born in Mulhouse, Jérôme Haehnel left his first club (Dornach) for the Illberg club at an early age. In 1996, aged 16, he entered the National Institute of Sport (INSEP) where he trained to become a top-level athlete with Luigi Borfiga, Thierry Tulasne and Georges Goven.As a result, he entered the National Training Centre, where he worked notably with Jérôme Potier until December 2003. 
Jérôme plays 28 hours of tennis per week. 

His fondest memory : French national junior champion in 1998. 

His strengths: his forehand, his consistency, his counter-attack and his return of serve.

His best result:  winning the Open de Moselle.

His favourite player:  Andre Agassi.

In 2004, he caused a real upset at Roland-Garros beating the American Andre Agassi in 3 sets. The same year, he won the Open de Moselle in Metz beating Richard Gasquet in the final.

In 2005, he won a Challenger event in Southampton.

In 2006, he won the Challenger event in Geneva, on clay, beating Australian Chris Guccione, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3
